The Hampton Bays Booster Club would like to encourage our athletes to become more involved in their community. We realize that many of out athletes are already stars in our area, spending hours doing community service. We want to try to get “Team Involvement”.We are challenging each individual team throughout the year to choose an activity they see being overlooked in our community and do something about it…. Events can be almost anything the teams see as a need. Tutoring younger students, helping at a food bank or library, coaching younger kids, shoveling snow for the elderly, whatever the students see here in Hampton Bays are the events we are looking for.We are seeking “team involvement”, which will be at least 50% of teams roster involved with some part of event. This can be planning or participation in event itself. Teams can volunteer during their season or any other time of the year. Only one event per team will be judged. Coaches can be as involved as they wish, but a coach is not mandated. One Captain from team must come to a Booster Meeting to approve community service and report to club. Here is the real challenge. The Booster Club will choose the team who has the most participation, the most original need and the biggest impact. The winning team’s member will choose a graduating senior from winning team who is going on to college and recommend him/her for a $500 Scholarship from the Booster Club. The recipient will be awarded this scholarship, presented by his/her team mates, at our Annual Doc Fallot Awards Banquet in June. There are no losers when you choose to help your Community, but in this case there will be one worthy winner.
